PROLES & EXOTICISM
I'd like to offer a new context for understanding the body and its drives. A way to understand the idea of tension and relaxation. Cultivating a place prior to causes and effects. An enduring frame for understanding the empirical process of the ANS (Autonomic Nervous System). In a manner of speaking, referring to the process of biological up-regulation and down-regulation.
There is a tendency towards exoticism in these practices, channelled through their various purveyors online, that I've been trying to counterbalance or break.
I see many people online who, whilst getting the subject entirely wrong, choose to offer advice.

Ironically, such people are often under the influence of chronic ANS acceleration. They may admit their dysfunctional personal experience to you and, in the next breath, tell you how you should live.
This is one of the more despicable traits of human beings, one on a long list. Yet a trait that is easily remedied. As all the traditions insist, remain silent.
This is not a rule just to safeguard a tradition. It's also to ameliorate the adherent confusing themselves with thought and to avoid being a total cock.
Yet, even so, spiritual or philosophical types these days are often the most highly-strung individuals. Often driven by the basest of motives whilst preaching high-mindednesses. I find few things more distasteful than a human-chimp coping with high-minded platitudes, where the reality is one built on pure anxiety and unhappiness.
Less talk, more work, proles.
I make the claim that the base cause is simple - people are entirely unable to let go. I don't mean this in some pseudo-spiwitshual way. I mean it quite literally.
So-called beliefs act as a simplistic, simian crutch or cover. A cover for a chronically compulsive character, desperately trying to fill in their biological sense of emptiness.
Let's now dive into why this is the case.
REAL CLIENTS, REAL EXPERIENCE
This will be the subject matter of the following article. Although online is in vogue and things can be achieved this way - mostly filling the coffers of dishonest grifters - nothing is comparable to what both parties learn when working in reality. This should be obvious, but it isn't.
Since beginning my work with real clients, the experience gained after only a few months has allowed me to consolidate my own long and serious practices into a functional and broader perspective.
CONTEXT SHOULD MATTER TO YOU…
To at once see and be able to contextualise what is going on in the totality of all contemplative practices imbues one with serious power.
With the proper Context, the akshual practices of meditation, breathing, yoga - whatever - make sense. No longer does one approach aimlessly and without understanding.
The adherent, with Context, is free to change emphasis depending on what element of experience they're bringing into focus. They are free to do so since the essential foundations of what this is all about has been understood and mastered.
THE AKSHUAL CONTEXT OF THIS THING
I have now seen that ordinary people, rightly known widely as normalfags, are living in chronic states of excitatory response. I call it the accelerator, which means the pedal is always to the metal.
I use several questionnaires and metrics according to the research I've seen online for initial assessments. Through this and what i learned from the sessions, I believe most people probably live in a state of Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). According to the definitions and metrics I've seen, anyway.
It is not reported because people are so dim-witted and dull to their own state of mind that they don't really notice it and have developed personal compulsive habits that temporarily satiate it.
I like to express it this way: They offer highly reactive feedback to the world around them. Because they are reacting exclusively and compulsively, they are, by definition, being lived by the circumstance around them.
When I reinstate ANS balance, as measured by brain waves and various other markers that I've spoken about before, they become what I describe as receptive or observational.
This state is also associated with interesting subjective descriptive language. I may write about this later. I will say this: funny how words follow the state.
Chronic thinking ceases in a state of receptivity that is objectively measurable and not imagined. The tendency to react to chronic thought or to animalistic impulses, ends.
The subject takes a receptive stance towards the world, in which they become an observer. This frame allows the subject to react with a greater range of potential in any given scenario.
In applying the brakes to their ANS, or short-circuiting chronic reactivity through the rebellious act of silence and stillness, the subject becomes highly receptive to the feedback of the world around them - which in truth, is their nervous system, anyway.
With this, the subjects begin to cultivate slight potential. To carve out a psychic space in which they are freer to choose their reactions. Or the freedom not to react at all. They conserve their finite energies for the significant tasks that matter that they have determined consciously.
In an excitatory state, one of hyper-excitation and hypertension, the one I described as virtually the same as undiagnosed GAD - downstream of this state lie the big bastards of the modern human robot.
OCD, anxiety, having sad fee fees, being addicted to drinking piss or taking drugs...you name it...are cumulative results of not applying the brakes.
Of course, there is always the side project of cultivating personal wisdom and skills about how to act in the world. When all these elements are synthesised, significant psychological transformations can occur.
This, however, cannot be done just by reading or talking. And I have outlined why this is a fool's errand to think so. I have summarised why reading, like any compulsive behaviour, could, in fact, be a symptom of the very problem one is trying to avoid.
I also attacked reading and speaking from a neurological standpoint in my book. Overall, it's a fake and gay way to act in the world. Really only appropriate for fat nerds and losers.
Again the base is straightforward. The interplay of acceleration and braking. And the organisms' skill in its ability to apply each.
WHY FOR IS THIS THE CASE?
s I stated in my initial ebook on Hara, the ANS is generally conceptualised as having 2 branches. Although this is an oversimplification, it is essential to understand how it works. Because, importantly, it can be experienced in this way in our practice.
The so-called sympathetic branch, as discussed in the book and in various blogposts, is the accelerator. In the modern age, we live at a chronically accelerated pace, leading to poor quality of life and life outcomes for most.
The brakes, which I have developed work to try and slam down on and to train people to use, refer to the deactivating or parasympathetic tendencies of the organism. This tendency is fundamental because we are chronically accelerating all the time in modernity.
To reiterate, I'm staking the claim that yoga, reflection, meditation, esoteric arse sunning, gumroad pdf's or whatever the flavour of the day is for statue heads the world over, any practice at its base attempts to regulate the ANS. And to gain critical mass in doing so - which is why you are asked to practice daily.
With the co-functionality of both branches, we can be in homeostasis. A state we should be in most of the time - nothing particularly spiritual about it. I hate the word spiritual.
Depending on the task, there will be an endless kaleidoscope of variation on this general theme - but this balance should be our base of operations.
I reiterate - nobody - I repeat, nobody (at least in the West) today lives in a state of homeostasis.
We can call this a state of parasympathetic and sympathetic emphasis, the net ANS state.
To the degree we as individuals can control the net emphasis, to the degree which we can control our experience of the world and the feedback our nervous system provides the many triggering challenges of the world around us, this determines the extent to which we are fully conscious beings.
This is it. This is the substrate of any exotic practice. No matter what it is, this is the biological substrate on which strange practices are built. End of story. You will begin to see now that some are good at this, and some are shit at this.
In fact - some of the shit ones can become good ones with this new foundation.
But usually, after sorting yourself out, you'll probably wonder why you ever bothered anyway.
MUSCULAR TENSION - WHY DOES IT REMAIN DESPITE EFFORT?
Part of the expression of chronic sympathetic net bias is chronic muscular tension.
Many people, such as Wilhelm Reich, posited that our very characters as human beings are tied up in our muscular tensions, or character armour, as he called it. Whether or not his explanation is accurate, we can see how chronic tension indicates a chronic sympathetic state, which in turn informs how we react to the world. If we respond in a dumb way regularly, we could probably call this neurosis, as he chose to.
Sympathetic dominance can be localised, in my view. I have observed some sections of the body in some people appear to be more afflicted with habitual, chronic hypertension. It is localised in the sense that, for all intents and purposes, I think the net dominance may be sympathetic, yet some areas are more chronically dominant than others.
In some people, severe tension is awful in some areas, not so bad in others. This structure is retained when a state of relaxation is induced, although some relief is obtained. Over time, the chronic condition can be lessened when awareness and focus are drawn towards the areas of severe tension. For a long time, however, the body will revert to it.
This results from complex muscle motor units (a topic too detailed to go into here), favouring a net emphasis on sympathetic branch dominance.
Since the net balance of sympathetic dominance in certain parts of the body becomes stuck - cultivating slamming the brakes on allows one, over time, to reduce the motor unit dominance in these areas.
This frees up energy. It frees up non-compulsive space in the psyche to determine the greater scope of action in reality.
Take a WW1 shell shock victim - we've all seen the videos - after years of the most extreme acceleration, their body becomes so tense that they're contorted into all sorts of mutant shapes. This occurs as an extreme case for all the reasons described above. Stress neurology has broken down in the shell shock victim.
We can see ourselves, in modern society, as low-key versions of this. Indeed, some are higher key versions.
Therefore, aside from patient-specific bodywork, I have implemented a fundamental practice as a simple, elegant, commonly used method to encourage muscular deceleration.
On the exhale, feel your body sink. With every exhalation, sink deeper and deeper.
All of us have done this. It could be more exciting. Just relaxation MANG - that's so non-esoteric. It's so non-exotic and trite.
And yet, this is the essential answer to it all. This subjective feeling is it. This is the brakes. This is literally the patient consciously decelerating net sympathetic dominance. When practised over time with specific special bodywork techniques, one can begin to undo tensions and to really understand themselves.
In short, no matter what word sets you employ to make yourselves feel speshul, most of you are the same. Flesh in pain.
A WARNING ON ONLINE HALFWITS - WHY THEY DRAG YOU FURTHER AWAY, NOT CLOSER TO -
here are so many modalities because no one understood the underlying mechanism of what was happening.
Humans, over time, got mixed up and started to ascribe objectivity to the superiority of their method and the associated gods or deities or other magical stuff they believed imbued it with special powers.
Ignoring the underlying physiological mechanism that allowed their method to achieve its aims - with notable exceptions.
We still do this, although now we may ascribe methods to personalities or idols, statue heads or whatever who offer exotic, esoteric ways out. For which they will charge you a hefty sum, usually.
When coupled with the inherent laziness of the contemptible sheep online, this is a sure recipe for all sorts of strange, hilarious and idiotic methods to arise.
Above all else, the human-robot desires easy answers where they can speak and work very little. As you have seen, the solutions for most are pretty straightforward - and yet, due to laziness, no one will use it, and no one will work. I know this to be the case. With my own clients, ensuring that they even do 30 days of daily work is extremely difficult. Even despite the excellent results they report. It never ceases to amaze me how lazy this filthy species is.
If this contemptible little wretch of an animal prefers always to speak rather than work, make money rather than master a skill, thieve rather than learn and refine, or, worst of all - tweet advice threads rather than do work themselves.
Unfortunately, as I have seen, this kind of knowledge will inevitably be drawn towards the lower polarities of its so-called nature. Telegram groups, people reading this and making it into a thread for good boy tummy pats. The temptation towards perverse incentives has led to all sorts of inane babble and stupidities.
There are some notable counter-examples to this tendency towards eXoTiC EsOtErIc AnSwErs. Dzogchen, Zen, to name a few - that just get to the point.
But by and large, the history of practice has been one where an initial breakthrough was perverted by a biomass of lesser inheritors who were in the business of bamboozling the ordinary imbecile for their own benefit. Or, on the other side of the trade - being deceived because they're dummies looking for easy answers.
We still see this all the time. If anything, we are in a worse state now, as social media clowns of various shades choose to commoditise everything, knowing nothing.
To put a barrier between you and actually achieving something. A false wall mind, for which they demand money before you realise it's yet another shade of deception. And on you move to the next thing.
Just remember when dealing with such people. The true human pastime is control.
The method is deception.
So that they, as wondering stomachs, may sate their desire for comfort, they'll try to sell you anything.
