Hi,
Latest episode up.
Was a mostly casualish chat re. zazen retreat and the rather astonishing things that can happen. Had to split episode up as it went for a long time, next episode I’ll release on the weekend.
We discuss:
Reactivity & Dukkha, why we tend to get terms like this wrong and I offer new terms and framework to really grok these meanings (as per the short course I just released)
How automatic are we really - like super automatic. Not exaggerating. Much of the automation is retarded as well, but I guess that’s the point.
What enlightenment is? what means? Throw our theories in the ring…
Sitting and what happens…sort of.
‘Living vs being lived’ and much much more.
Overall, aside from talking too much, we end up going to some abstract places particularly at the end. Talk about emptiness and what it probably means means. I tell the story of my abdominal heart starting up all on its own and me finally getting it…Even after writing a book about it and practicing for years, then one day something just happens and you hit a new level. What a presumptuous cock I was to think I had it well and truly down!
Have a go at answering friend Munro’s questions about levels of meditation…even though Kevin nor I knew much about Dhyana, I answered it using a model I know which I feel is better.
Anyway, maybe more easy listening less serious show. If you find yourself inspired to start Shikantanza or Zazen, I made a course and it is available for a measly 6 Aussie dirhams. It’ll tell you everything you need to know to get started and go into what we discuss here in cripplingly autistic detail. Hours of material, but all practical.
Expect the usual newsletter this weekend, another bio-indiv episode + a speshul bonus for my generous and excellent subscribers on how to transmute reactivity into vital energy, from a Buddhist perspective. The general theory I learned over the years from my Zen master (who has legitimately received Dharma transmission and knows his stuff). So be on the lookout for that one.
On reflection…I have to say…Buddhism is way stranger than what people give it credit for. It’s actually really pretty strange. Everything is just happening it seems. All I can say is that we might as well relax, sit back and enjoy the show.
Again, appreciate many of you attempting to spread the word as usual, you have my gratitude.
Have nice week,
